Founding Attorney Joshua Key
Born and raised in Kansas City, I grew up with a profound appreciation for the simple joys in life — a good barbecue, the thrill of sports, and the art of brewing the perfect cup of coffee. My roots in this vibrant city have shaped me into who I am today, but my journey didn’t stop there. Over a decade ago, I made the move to Alabama, and it’s been a delightful shift. I've swapped my winter coat for a fishing rod and fully embraced the local passion for college football. Roll Tide!
My background is a tapestry of varied experiences. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I've always been fascinated by the intricacies of business and the personal stories behind each venture. My grandfather's grocery and hardware stores were my first introduction to the entrepreneurial spirit, and my father's career as an airline pilot for 38 years instilled in me a sense of adventure and a broad perspective on life.
These experiences naturally led me to a career in law, where I blend my personal insights with professional expertise. Specializing in estate planning and probate, I bring a unique perspective shaped by my family’s experiences. Seeing the challenges and opportunities in managing and preserving assets has made me passionate about helping others navigate these waters.
My legal career took flight at Regional Paramedical Services in Alabama, where I served as in-house counsel. This role allowed me to delve into various aspects of the law, from Medicare and Medicaid compliance to employment law and corporate governance. It was more than just practicing law; it was about understanding the pulse of a business and the people behind it.
As an attorney, my approach is straightforward and personable. I believe in cutting through the legal jargon to make law accessible and relatable. Whether it’s discussing estate plans over a cup of coffee or strategizing business growth, my goal is to provide clear, practical advice that makes sense in the real world.
Education and Accolades
At Avila University, I balanced college baseball with academics, earning a Bachelor's in Business Administration. This experience taught me the importance of teamwork and perseverance, both on the field and in my studies.
My ambition then led me to the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. There, I pursued both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration, completing the dual program in an accelerated three years instead of the usual four. This journey was challenging but deeply rewarding, blending legal expertise with business acumen.
Alongside my studies, I earned academic accolades, including a place on the National Dean’s List and recognition in the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. These honors reflect not just academic success, but also my commitment to excellence and holistic understanding in both law and business.
In essence, I’m just a Kansas City guy who loves Alabama’s warmth, both in climate and community. I’m here to offer my legal expertise, yes, but also to connect, understand, and help guide you through the legal aspects of life with a friendly, approachable touch. Let’s work together to navigate the legal landscape in a way that's as comfortable and straightforward as a conversation with a good friend.
